Enai hotel is located a few kilometers outside of Puerto, directly on the Madre de Dios river. Yet, Enai is not a remote lodge, but a hotel with services as: electricity, wifi, cold & hot water – just like you except at other places.
But, the jungle can be a very difficult environment, where electricity cuts and wifi outages can happen. . Plus since we are the jungle, we are not alone: insect call the jungle their home and despite efforts to keep them away, please be prepared to see insects in the hotel.
While you will experience the Amazon rainforest in all its beauty at Enai, we appreciate your understanding and collaboration in case you experience any challenges during your stay.

All our rooms are designed to keep “the jungle outside”: all windows have mosquito nets, to ensure air circulation while keeping insects outside. In addition, please follow these rules:

• - Apply mosquito repellent (and reapply frequently, as indicated)
• - Insects love light: turn off the lights, if and when possible, not only helps to keep insects
• out, but also reduces energy consumption
• - In your room: never open the door of the terrace and keep it open without the mosquito
• net.
• - In your room: Only open the door to enter/leave the room.
• - Don’t leave open food or drinks in your room

Enai hotel is located 3 km (approx. 2 miles) from Puerto Maldonado city, on the Madre de Dios river. You reach the hotel on an unpaved road (which is not uncommon in this part of the world). You can get a taxi at the hotel or arrange airport transfers, for your arrival and departure.
Only one transportation service is included, which can be entry or exit.
Transport is a combination of a ride -with a vehicle- to the port of Puerto Maldonado and then a trip by boat.

Tap water is purified for consumption; nevertheless we highly recommend that you only drink y bottled water. Cold & hot water is available in the bathroom.

The amazon is one of the most diverse biological areas on our planet. In the Amazona Restaurant by Enai our purpose is to preserve and share, the culture, diversity and supplies from the jungle through our culinary highlights.
A combination of traditional and modern Peruvian culinary techniques will make your visit to Amazona a unique and new experience.

In the jungle of Puerto Maldonado the temperature is generally above the 80 ̊F/27 ̊C (during the day). Rainfall is heaviest from December to March. From April to August the jungle can experience sudden falls in the temperature: is the so called “Friaje”, cold air coming from Antarctica that reaches the jungle. Can last few days and the temperatures can reach a low of 57 ̊F/14 ̊C. Plus as indicated in the name, there is a lot of rain in the rainforest, which can occasionally be heavy. Be prepared and bring appropriate clothing and shoes (e.g., hiking boots).

What clothes to bring and wear: Even though it is hot and humid at times, we recommend to always wear long trousers and shirts (e.g., lightweight cotton or functional clothing) with long sleeves, to protect you from insects and the sun.
What to bring: waterproof boots or trainers for walking, aa hat, swim wear (for our pool), sunglasses, sun block, mosquito repellent, and of course a camera and binoculars to capture the beauty of the rainforest.

Visitors to popular Andean destinations, such as Cusco/Machu Picchu, Arequipa/Colca Canyon, Kuelap/Chachapoyas, Puno/Lake Titicaca, and other areas high in the mountains often suffer
from Altitude-related illness and should seek medical advice prior to travel.
The jungle can be a dangerous place even when it looks very calm and quiet. If you are in a tour always follow the guide, never leave him/her to explore the jungle on your own.. It is very easy get lost in the jungle. Don’t touch anything, unless instructed by the tour guide.
